Intercommunity Relations in Kenya


In May 2015, Research Analyst Alicia Boyd presented a poster titled, “Intercommunity Relations in Kenya” at the 2015 American Association for Public Opinion Research (AAPOR) conference.

Kenya borders volatile Somalia, has one of Africa’s top ten economies and a thriving mobile money system for financial transactions, and is currently led by the first sitting head of state to have been indicted by the International Criminal Court. While post-election violence in 2007 highlighted rifts between ethnic groups and persistent conflict between pastoral groups and attacks by Somali Al-Shabaab militants raise questions about security, Kenyans express more concern about day-to-day economic issues such as unemployment and high prices.
