D3's 2021 Year In Review

Happy belated New Years from all of us at D3: Designs, Data, Decisions!

As has become tradition, we are pausing to reflect on all that we accomplished last year with the help of our valued clients, field partners, and internal staff. We feel very fortunate to have experienced another year of growth despite global instability surrounding the pandemic. Not only did we expand to our largest number of team members ever, but we also completed more projects in more countries around the world. It’s hard to imagine that our 30 research analysts completed 253 projects in 87 countries this past year, but their collective hard work and dedication made it possible! Here is a brief snapshot of some of these projects:

  • Sesame WASH UP Formative in Kenya & Honduras
  • VOA Music Preference Study using RCS in Cote D’Ivoire & Kenya
  • USAGM Mixed Methods Testing to Modernize Core Media Questionnaire in Colombia, Egypt, Nigeria, and Russia
  • West Point National Survey & Twitter Experiment in Kenya

We launched our Trust Center this year, in addition to improving our InfoSec capabilities. D3 maintains a SOC 2 Type 2 Attestation meeting all five trust service criteria: security, availability, processing integrity, confidentiality, and privacy. We have an ongoing NIST 800-171/CMMC Information Security Program as well as an ISO 27001 Statement of Applicability. We take privacy seriously and have adopted privacy programs consistent with the EU’s GDPR and other privacy regulations to protect the data and rights of data subjects. D3 will continue to adhere to privacy regulations or laws in the country of work and/or in the countries where work is being performed. You can find complete information about our data and information security programs in our Trust Center.

D3 also fully acquired RCS, so we can now offer our clients access to secure electronic data capture in any research environment. Shifting RCS to a cloud-based server (Microsoft Azure) has been a critical part of this process. RCS stands above other data collection software as a platform designed by survey experts, for survey experts. Each survey is built in RCS from start to finish, leveraging customized features to capture metadata that allow us to conduct robust quality control on your data. RCS can collect data via face-to-face surveys on mobile devices, and by calling telephone numbers through its built-in dialing functionality that allows interviewers to dial from any mobile-enabled device, without the need of a formal call center. With its offline features, it can work anywhere that we do. If this sounds like something that could assist with any of your research studies in the new year, please contact us.

Lastly, we are continuing to operate in Afghanistan, having completed over 70,000 quantitative interviews since the Taliban takeover in the summer of 2021. D3 remains committed to providing research for those who need it in Afghanistan and to supporting our many Afghan colleagues in 2022.

Thank you to those who made this past year so successful! We are looking forward to another year of helping you achieve your research goals, whatever and wherever they may be.
