D3 Announces New Hires


Tysons Corner, Virginia, April 21, 2014 — D3 Systems is proud to announce the addition of five highly qualified professionals to the D3 team.  We welcome three research analysts, an assistant research analyst, and a senior accountant who will help D3 to better serve its clientele and uphold its mission.  These individuals bring a diverse range of educational and professional experience to D3.  We look forward to their contributions to D3 and hopefully your business as well when you interact with our team.

Jessica Beaird, Assistant Research Analyst

Jessica Beaird graduated from the Monterey Institute of International Studies with a Masters in Public Administration.  While obtaining her degree, she consulted with local-area nonprofits on projects ranging from capacity building to the design of impact evaluations, and her capstone focused on the implementation of project management tools and techniques. She has conducted international field studies in Bosnia and Chile and has analytical skills in SPSS and R.

April Bethune, Senior Accountant

April M. Bethune joined D3 Systems, Inc. in February 2014.  She has over seven years of government contract accounting experience and four years of commercial property management experience. Key areas of expertise include financial reporting, accounting administration, A/R, A/P, and contract administration and analysis. April earned her BS from Virginia Tech.

Kyle Block, Research Analyst

Kyle Block has more than three years of applied research and development consulting experience in more than 25 countries. Mr. Block has managed complex impact evaluations of large-scale interventions in unstable and challenging environments. At D3, Mr. Block is already supporting a variety of survey research projects in Afghanistan, including evaluations of media messaging campaigns and assessments of development investments throughout the country. Mr. Block will also provide technical support to D3’s growing portfolio of impact evaluations around the world. He holds a BA in International Relations from Claremont McKenna College and is pursuing a Graduate Certificate in Survey Design and Data Analysis at The George Washington University. Mr. Block is a fluent Spanish speaker, is proficient in Japanese, and has analytical skills in SAS, STATA, and SPSS.

Alicia Boyd, Research Analyst

Alicia Boyd has ten years of experience managing and conducting analysis of research projects in conflict areas. Ms. Boyd’s work in Iraq commenced in 2006 and continued through 2010, during which time she managed the implementation of hundreds of thousands of national and regional survey interviews, as well as hundreds of qualitative projects. More recently, she oversaw several multi-year research projects in Afghanistan. Ms. Boyd has led multi-disciplinary teams that have conducted research on topics as diverse as: views towards madrassa education in Afghanistan; multiple assessments of media use and preferences; the effectiveness of messaging campaigns; and the impact of NGO assistance on economic outcomes for internally displaced Iraqis. Ms. Boyd received an MA in International Affairs from the George Washington University and a BA from the College of William and Mary.

Kerry Brown, Research Analyst

Kerry Brown has over 15 years of research and project management experience.  She was most recently with Pact and is highly proficient in conducting research to assess the needs of a target population, analyzing the information, and making recommendations for program development.  She works with clients from both the media and governmental sectors, and manages business development and marketing efforts.  The majority of Ms. Brown’s career has focused on international development with an emphasis on Global Health.  This is inclusive of time spent in the North Caucasus managing a US Department of State BPRM funded mixed methods gender based violence research study.  She led both questionnaire design and the training of local health workers on qualitative research methodology.  Ms. Brown also brings data analysis capabilities in SPSS, SAS and EpiInfo, and has a working knowledge of Russian and French.  She holds an MPA from American University and MPH from Boston University.
