D3 Systems launched its new Gender Research Initiative and hosted an inaugural panel: Persisting Gender Issues around the World, on August 20^th at OpenGov Hub. D3’s Gender Research Initiative specializes in the collection and application of a high-value resource, public opinion surveys, that has the potential to improve and advance gender related initiatives across the private sector, development, and academia.

The panel featured presentations on healthcare, educational attainment, financial inclusion, and security, as well as an overview of D3’s GRI by the moderator, and an interactive discussion with the audience.

The Gender Research Initiative spotlighted our newest survey from Bangladesh conducted in June and July of 2015. D3 sponsored a nationally representative, face-to-face survey of male and female adults (n=1500) in all seven divisions in Bangladesh. Our team traveled in-country to assist with training, data entry, and quality control in collaboration with our local field partner, Org-Quest. The survey collected information in several areas related to gender equality with a focus on access to healthcare, organ trafficking, financial inclusion through mobile money, gender-based violence and gender dynamics within the household. The Center for Global Health and Development from Boston University participated in the design and analysis of the survey as well. Data from the 2015 Bangladesh National Survey can be made available upon request.
