D3 Presents at Center for Global Health on Bangladesh Data

Next week, D3’s GRI will present “Gendered Power, Reproductive Health, and Behavior in Bangladesh” at Boston University’s Center for Global Health and Development. Boston University alumnae Kerry Brown (MPH ’08) and Samera Zaidi (MPH ’14), both of D3 Systems, will share key findings from D3’s most recent data in Bangladesh and discuss how gender statistics are a key tool in improving and expanding knowledge about women’s empowerment.

Women’s lack of control over their reproductive health remains a major public health concern, particularly in resource-poor settings where women tend to marry at a relatively young age. Reproductive autonomy, as it relates to women’s empowerment, remains particularly complex in Muslim-majority countries like Bangladesh. In June 2015, D3 in partnership with the Center for Global Health and Development, conducted a nationally representative face-to-face survey of 1,500 men and women in Bangladesh to further investigate reproductive autonomy as it relates to a women’s empowerment.
