Last week, D3 Systems presented four studies at the 70th annual conference of the American Association for Public Opinion Research (AAPOR) in Hollywood, Florida.

The following papers and presentations are now available for download:

• Crisis in Iraq: A View from the Ground – This poster presentation highlights findings from Iraq Futures, a series of nine nationally representative face-to-face surveys collected in July 2012 to May 2014. Findings were used to demonstrate how the divided political climate in Iraq set the stage for ISIL.  Additional results and details about the methodology can be found in the full research report.

• Intercommunity Relations in Kenya – This poster presentation examines data from a nationally representative survey of Kenyans in order to understand opinions of domestic political and security issues. Additional results and details about the methodology can be found in the full research report.

• The Implications of Gender on Survey Research in Egypt – This paper utilizes data from D3’s national face-to-face survey designed and implemented to study landline and mobile telephone ownership and telephony habits of Egyptians. The authors explore the role of an interviewer’s gender on participation rates and responses, in order to further inform and improve dual-mode telephone research in and into Egypt.

• Afghanistan: The Case for Polling in Conflict Environments – Afghanistan: The Case for Polling in Conflict Environments: This paper, co-authored with Langer Research Associates, uses national public opinion polls before and after Afghanistan’s highly anticipated 2014 presidential election in order to provide insight into Afghans’ voting intentions, issues of concern, and their experience with this fundamental exercise in democracy.
